Maeve Brennan : A Celebration
As part of the Dublin Literary Festival in May, an event entitled ‘Maeve Brennan: A Celebration’ will take place on May 27 at Smock Alley.
Maeve Brennan was born in Dublin in 1917, she became a staff writer at the New Yorker where she showcased here thoughts and sharp wit in stories ranging from her childhood, marriage and exile. Brennan fell on hard times and died in obscurity in New York in the early nineties. A new edition of her celebrated Dublin stories, The Springs of Affection, will present her writings to a new readership.
